The exhibition “LT Identity – In Context of Professional Art” will be opened at Panevėžys City Art Gallery on the 10th of February at 5 p.m.

The search for identity is a frequent theme in works of contemporary artists. Most probably it is determined by the fact that cultural differences are vanishing and that personal identity becomes harder to define and therefore should be discussed.

Using different fields and techniques of art, forms of expression and intentions, the artists tried to create subjective works on the theme of Lithuanian identity. It was aimed to answer the questions “Who am I? What are my aims? What is Lithuania to me and what is Lithuania to the world?”

The project is dedicated to the millennium of Lithuania. Its aim is to turn attention of the public to the citizens’ consciousness, roots of the nation in search for relation with the present and future perspectives.

The exhibition will be open until the 21st of February.

The gallery is open on Wednesdays-Sundays from 11.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. It is closed on state holidays.
